Job Details

An exciting opportunity to work with Jess Phillips MP and her team in her constituency office. In this important and rewarding caseworker role, you will be providing a high level of service to Jess and her constituents. Candidates do not require prior work experience of working for a Member of Parliament, but should have experience of working in a people focussed role and/or dealing with the public in a calm, kind and respectful manner. A good standard of written and spoken English and a professional telephone manner are essential qualities. 

This is a full-time role working in the constituency office in Birmingham.

Duties will include:

  • Managing and progressing a varied portfolio of casework
  • Dealing with correspondence, telephone calls and emails, providing timely responses to constituents
  • Liaising with local and national government agencies, the voluntary sector and other third parties to resolve issues for constituents
  • Ensure information is entered, progressed and maintained within the Caseworker database system
  • Ensure that all information is treated in a sensitive and confidential manner and in accordance with GDPR
  • Organise and participate in MP surgeries and meetings with constituents, some of which may be in evenings or at weekends

Skills required will include

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to learn and advise on issues (including housing, welfare benefits and local authority matters) in a thoughtful manner
  • Good knowledge of office-based IT systems and administrative tasks
  • Able to work as an individual and as part of a close-knit team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a sensitive and public-facing role

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews are expected to be in the week commencing 2 November 2026 and will be held in the Birmingham office. The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible, subject to vetting approval and any notice period.
