Job Details
Mary Creagh CBE MP for Coventry East is recruiting a full-time Parliamentary Assistant to play a key role in her Westminster office.
This is a varied role providing administrative, organisational and parliamentary support to Mary and the wider team. The successful candidate will have significant experience working in an MP’s parliamentary office and be comfortable in a fast-paced political environment.
Responsibilities
- Diary management for Mary, ensuring she has the information needed for Westminster meetings; attend and take notes when required.
- Analyse and interpret data to ensure the MP is accurately informed on key issues.
- Prepare and present briefing notes for debates and parliamentary questions.
- Identify debates relevant to the constituency and policy areas of interest and brief Mary.
- Writing speeches and interventions.
- Research local, regional, or national issues to support Mary’s work in Coventry East.
- Undertake supervisory responsibility.
- Lead on project work.
- Manage correspondence and enquiries from constituents and stakeholders, including complex or sensitive matters; draft clear, accurate responses.
- Liaise with parliamentary colleagues, government departments and external organisations, and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with data protection requirements and office procedures.

- Previous parliamentary experience or other relevant experience.

- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
- Commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
The postholder may occasionally be required to work outside normal working hours and travel for work.
