Danny Kruger is looking for an effective and highly motivated individual to join his team in Westminster as a full-time Parliamentary Assistant.

This is a fantastic opportunity to start or continue a career in politics and develop skills across a range of responsibilities within a hard-working but friendly office. Early career professionals from other sectors would also be welcome to apply.

This role will be full-time and predominantly based in Danny’s office in the House of Commons, but with the constituency having good proximity to London there is scope for staff to join visits to communities in Wiltshire. There is also some opportunity for hybrid remote working during Parliamentary recess.

The role will primarily consist of diary management and handling correspondence (e.g. policy queries and casework) There will also be some requirement for briefings/research, and parliamentary administration (submitting questions on Danny's behalf, organising meetings/visits to Parliament, etc).

Main responsibilities include:

  • Diary management.
  • Dealing with policy queries, casework and campaigns on the MP's behalf, including drafting and sending responses to constituents.
  • Horizon-scanning, anticipating what advice or action may be required; proactively identifying problems and resolving them.
  • Researching local, regional or national issues to support the MP's work.
  • Advising and ensuring Danny is fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the House (as requested).
  • Producing and presenting high quality written notes and professional advice.
  • General office support, mail handling, file and database management ensuring correspondence records are kept adhering to GDPR requirements and respecting confidentiality at all times.
  • Liaising with Danny’s Wiltshire-based team to ensure effective coordination between his constituency and Westminster duties

Experience and skills required

  • Highly organised with the ability to deliver and optimise processes around diary management, correspondence and meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to maintain complete discretion and confidentiality.
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of Reform UK.

Please note there may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours, including assisting with events as requested.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place in November, and successful candidates will be notified in November. Recruitment for this role may end before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found in the meantime. The ideal start date would be as soon as possible after an offer is accepted.
