Job Details
CWEIC has a mandate from Commonwealth Heads of Government to promote trade and investment across the 56-member States. We are the Commonwealth’s business network and the platform for public-private engagement across the Commonwealth.
In 2027, CWEIC will organise large-scale events in Australia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and the UK. CWEIC also convenes high-level roundtables and receptions alongside our major events programme throughout the year.
The Programme and Events Executive will work with the Programmes and Events Teams to develop programme themes, identify global leaders in relevant subjects, and work to confirm their participation and manage their administration at CWEIC’s various events across the Commonwealth.
Maintaining the master lists, updating the wider CWEIC team on progress, as well as identifying potential issues and areas of concern will be a critical part of the role. The post-holder will also help to prepare briefing notes around the key forum themes, and contribute to the operational management of these international events.
What We're Looking For:
- Applicants should have excellent written skills, be confident on the phone, and have strong organisational instincts.
- Teamwork is essential for success in the role, but initiative and self-starting are encouraged; candidates who take ownership of the work will get the best out of the role.
- Past events experience or a working knowledge of programme development would be useful.
- Adept at using Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Can carry out desk research independently and ideally with previous experience in a junior research, writing or journalism role.
- English speaker and excellent knowledge of standard English grammar and punctuation.
- Highly organised, efficient, detail-oriented, and takes initiative to facilitate workflow and the meeting of deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and manage a workload with competing deadlines and to adjust priorities.
- Keen interest in international affairs, politics, business and current affairs, with a can-do attitude.
This role will offer an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-moving organisation with a strong international focus. We are looking for applicants who can commit to a full-time role from January 2027. Applicants should have the right to work in the UK, and be open to travel within the Commonwealth.
