Job Details

Advertising is a pillar of the creative economy. It is a key driver of the UK economy, consumer behaviour, and competition. Sports, media, arts and culture depend on advertising as a vital source of revenue. Advertising is what makes the web free.

The Advertising Association is a tripartite trade body that represents the interests of advertisers, the agencies and media. Its purpose is to promote responsible advertising and its value to the wider society. The Advertising Association acts as a vital link between industry and government and our work requires regular participation and engagement on political issues. These issues can range from digital regulation, the future of skills, the impact of the cost-of-living on business, sustainability and responsible advertising.

About the Team
The team works across a range of issues affecting the industry at Westminster, Holyrood, and Brussels. We are at the forefront of a range of political and regulatory issues including Less Healthy Food regulations, BBC Funding, the Online Advertising Task Force, and addressing issues around skills and talent in the sector. Many of our issues are fast-moving and we often work on a reactive basis to announcements from government and the regulator. We also deliver a range of events in Parliament and elsewhere for political and industry stakeholders.

About the Role
The Advertising Association is looking to recruit a Public Affairs Intern to join our busy Policy and Government Affairs team. We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in politics, problem solving skills, a proactive can-do attitude, and a willingness to get stuck into task-based work.

The role would particularly suit someone looking to develop a career in public affairs and who would like to gain experience working in a team that focuses on advocacy, government engagement, and policy making.

This is a fixed-term internship for six months with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time role dependent on resources and performance.
