Job Title: Constituency Support Officer

Working For: Tom Morrison MP (Cheadle)

Location: Cheadle (Greater Manchester)

Salary: £27,000-£30,000

Length of Contract: 6 months

Job Details

Tom Morrison is the Liberal Democrat MP for Cheadle. When Tom is in Westminster, Cheadle still needs a champion on the ground. That's you.

As Constituency Support Officer, you'll be Tom's right hand in the constituency and the central point for everything Cheadle. You'll lead our relationships with the schools, businesses, faith and community groups, health services and charities that make this place what it is, and make sure Tom is in the right room, at the right time, with the right brief.

What you'll do:
• Lead Tom's relationships with key local stakeholders, including quarterly meetings with partners such as Citizens Advice
• Run Tom's constituency diary and keep him on schedule at meetings, visits and events
• Prepare constituency briefs and turn meetings into action
• Handle press enquiries and speak to journalists on local, non-party-political matters when the comms team can't
• Plan and run street surgeries, recess tours and Tom's presence at local events
• Arrange school visits, in Cheadle and to Parliament
• Run a year-round outreach calendar and Tom's "special letters" celebrating local success
• Reply to constituency enquiries and draft parliamentary mailings to residents

What we're looking for:
• Excellent written and spoken communication
• Strong organisation, with experience running a busy diary, events or visits
• Confidence building relationships with a wide range of people
• A confident timekeeper, happy to politely end Tom's conversations and get him to his next meeting
• Discretion and sound judgement with sensitive information
• Good IT skills and willingness to work some evenings and weekends

Knowledge of Cheadle and Stockport, experience in an MP's or councillor's office, social media skills and a driving licence would all be a bonus.

This is a core, office-based role in Cheadle Hulme, at the heart of a busy, ambitious office, with real ownership from day one. The work is non-party-political. While there is an initial six month contract, we would be looking to extend to permanent.
