Job Title: Political and Public Affairs Adviser
Working For: Protection Approaches
Location: London
Salary: £42,000 - £48,000
Length of Contract: Permanent
Job Details
We're recruiting a Political and Public Affairs Adviser to work at the heart of Protection Approaches' political and policy engagement, helping to develop practical solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing the UK and its role in the world.
At a critical moment for human rights and democracy, our work spans the prevention of identity-based violence, the weaponisation of identity, community cohesion and resilience against polarisation. We work with senior figures across government, Parliament, national institutions and civil society to bring evidence, expertise and practical solutions into political and policy discussions.
This is a varied, fast-moving role combining political analysis, policy research, relationship-building and strategic engagement. Working closely with our Co-Executive Directors, you'll monitor developments across Westminster, Whitehall and international politics, identify opportunities for engagement, and help develop our political and policy priorities.
You'll undertake desk-based research, develop policy proposals and produce high-quality written materials, from urgent briefings and speeches to substantial reports and analysis. You'll build relationships with parliamentarians, political advisers, government officials, think tanks and NGOs, and organise roundtables, policy discussions and other opportunities to bring people together.
You'll also support and participate in domestic and international visits, missions and meetings, working alongside our Co-Executive Directors to engage with policy makers and civil society.
We're looking for someone who loves politics. Not just policy, but politics. Someone who follows the personalities, relationships and competing interests shaping political decisions, understands how Westminster and Whitehall really work, and enjoys identifying opportunities to make a difference. Someone equally comfortable researching an emerging issue, convening civil society partners and building relationships with people working in Westminster.
The role is based in our London office, with regular meetings and events across the capital and domestic and international travel.
