Don Foster, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, is looking to recruit an intern for his parliamentary office in Westminster.
Two interns are required: one starting immediately; one beginning December or January. Internships ideally last between four and six months.
Candidates should possess:
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure;
- An interest in politics;
- Sympathy towards the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Help with preparation for speeches, appearances in Parliament and meetings;
- Assist on long media initiatives and press work;
- Develop contacts with key stakeholders;
- Respond to correspondence and assist with administrative tasks.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate an interest in the Culture, Media and Sport portfolio. This includes matters relating to heritage and the arts, sport, the media, licensing, gambling, tourism, and the Olympics.
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
