In 2010 Cause4 developed an innovative training programme, the Cause4 Entrepreneurship Programme.
The Programme is a 12-month programme which equips graduates with the skills and experience needed to make a dynamic contribution to charities and social enterprises as development and fundraising personnel – and to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Principal Responsibilities
Research and Strategy Development
To deliver on specific targets for researching into charitable giving Trusts, Foundations, Companies and Individuals to establish relevant background information and potential for receiving approaches for funding.
To keep abreast of funding developments and items of news interest relevant to the voluntary and social enterprise sectors.
To write up research findings for client organisations.
To prepare drafts of client strategy documents.
Fundraising
To develop a full understanding of individual profiles of specific clients within the portfolio of Cause4, and use this to help develop Cases for Support and other funding documents in the early stages of the development of a fundraising strategy.
To produce final funding applications to Trusts and Foundations for Directors’ and other colleagues’ sign off.
To identify all appropriate potential sources of income that will meet the funding requirements of a range of clients across the scope of Cause4 ’s strategic work streams.
To support team colleagues in drafting documents and producing statistics and figures for inclusion in project budgets, together with sets of measureable outcomes and evaluation methods.
Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
An IT literate graduate with some experience of working in a team in a small charity or company;
A thorough approach to research and attention to detail for the production of fundraising applications;
Comfortable when working to tight deadlines, and able to turn work around within a short time span where demands are liable to change at short notice;
Excellent social skills, able to operate with diplomacy, tact and empathy;
Passionate commitment to the work of charities, and a strong awareness of sector potential in a challenging funding context.
