The RIBA is a global professional membership body driving excellent in architecture.

The Senior Policy Advisor role sits within the Policy and Public Affairs team, which leads on the RIBA’s engagement with government and the wider public policy debate. Working with the rest of the team, you will be responsible for the development of policy positions and their communication to a range of audiences including politicians, civil servants and the broader sector.

You will have significant experience in policy development and research with a background in either housing or planning policy. We are looking for someone with the ability to commission and manage external work effectively and have a detailed understanding of and the ability to apply project management techniques.

The role requires strong written and oral communication skills and an ability to translate detailed technical points into outputs accessible to general audiences. An understanding of political processes and the ability to take their impact on policy work into account would be advantageous.

In addition to policy experience, the successful candidate will have negotiation and advocacy skills as well as inter-personal and relationship management skills.
