The Labour Party is looking to recruit a Board Secretary for the Independent Complaints and Independent Review Boards. The post-holder will be primarily responsible for the smooth running of two independent complaints boards set up to review the handling of complaints made to the Labour Party that involve protected characteristics.

The role involves working independently to plan and organise 18 independent Board members to be available on a rotational basis throughout the year, to assist them in their work reviewing relevant decisions, determining disciplinary allegations and/or hearing appeals.

You will work closely with members of both Boards, getting to know them and the way they work, and Labour Party colleagues, who are available to advise on mechanics and procedures.

This is a Board Secretary job with a difference as it is a new role. If you are a self-starter, you will have the chance to stamp your mark on this role and help shape its important work. As such, it would suit a lawyer (or other professional) looking to take on a different role or someone with experience of running a busy office with the skills to both forward plan and manage the everyday.

If you have excellent organisational skills, an interest in equality and diversity, good written and verbal communications and would like to work closely with lawyers and other professionals, this could be the role for you.

Playing a crucial role for the Labour Party the successful candidate will have excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills, 3 years’ experience of working in a busy office environment, keeping to deadlines, managing multiple strands of a project at any one time and communicating effectively with stakeholders, ability to work in a highly pressurised environment and to manage timelines and competing demands and excellent knowledge of diary management tools, calendar and Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
