Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) as our new Research and Insight Officer based in our Social Policy Team. The ideal candidate will work with our Policy and Public Affairs Manager to carry out research on our policy priority areas which include asylum and migration, cost of living, levelling up and in-work poverty. The officer will produce regular research briefings and compelling advocacy research reports to support our national policy work. The research and insight officer will be responsible for gathering ongoing and in-depth quantitative and qualitative data and case studies from our frontline services to contribute to our policy work.

 

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop the evidence base for the SVP’s advocacy work by carrying out ongoing and in depth qualitative and quantitative research of our frontline services.
• Produce regular and high-quality research briefings and reports on our policy areas of focus.
• Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager on relevant Parliamentary and Government inquiries by carrying out ad hoc targeted research to gather relevant data and case studies.
• Bring data to life through engaging research briefings and other documents for our communication channels.
• As directed, carry out quantitative and qualitative research, polling and surveys to support the SVP’s advocacy and communication.
• Manage and build relationships with external partners and data organisations.
• Work with the SVP’s membership team to gain in depth insight into the work of our members and volunteers.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
• A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role involving research and policy analysis on social justice issues.
• Proven ability to deliver impactful research reports, publications and briefings.
• Experience of undertaking research and evaluation activities within a charity/social welfare environment.
• Proven experience of gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data.
• Knowledge on one or more of our policy areas of focus (migration and asylum, poverty alleviation, welfare and labour policy).
