Bishop Auckland Conservatives are looking to recruit a volunteer intern to work on the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner and general election campaigns. The successful applicant will gain first hand experience in a busy Campaign Centre and undertake a variety of tasks to support the team. The position would suit a highly motivated individual with strong communication skills who can work independently under the supervision of our officers.

The successful applicant will gain experience of producing campaign materials, the organisation and execution of election campaign plans, the organisation of volunteers and activists, and much more. This position will provide an excellent opportunity for candidates to enhance their CVs and attain a varied and valuable political office based experience.

The specific tasks to be undertaken will vary; they may include:

  • Production of campaign literature
  • Literature distribution, canvassing and other campaign activities
  • Build relationships with elected representatives, MP and members
  • Lead groups of campaigners
  • Develop effective digital marketing and communications
  • Arrange and attend executive council, management team and branch meetings (including minute taking)
  • Other tasks to support the work of the campaign teams

As such the ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a Full UK driving licence
  • Be self motivated
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Premier Pro
