Job Title: Parliamentary Assistant

Job Details
Ed Miliband is recruiting for a full time Parliamentary Assistant primarily based in his Westminster office.
Main duties will include:
- Assisting with the diary, with supervision from the Office Manager
- Drafting responses to policy correspondence and enquiries
- Providing general admin support
- Assisting parliamentary and constituency offices with project work
- Assisting with research, usually from readily available sources
- Drafting briefings on policy issues, potential questions and motions put to the house
- Booking and organising events
Required Skills
- Previous Parliamentary experience is preferred
- Excellent research skills
- Excellent communication skills – a high standard of written English is essential for this role
- Attention to detail
- The ability to work often under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and also as part of a small team
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A keen interest in politics and current affairs
- Ability to travel to Doncaster one day a week (travel costs will be met)
- Sympathy with the aims and objectives of the Labour Party
- An understanding of social media and ability to draft engaging comms
