We’re looking for a brilliant external affairs professional to lead Girlguiding’s external affairs activities so that we’re best placed to influence and secure statutory funding. This role includes developing a public affairs plan aimed at influencing the upcoming general election, to support the organisation’s profile raising, strategic positioning and collaboration. We’re looking for someone who can ensure that Girlguiding is positioned as an expert in girls’ lives and is impactful in prompting change to improve girls’ lives. You will be a skilled communicator, with the ability to confidently communicate with internal and external stakeholders, the youth sector and civil society, and have a robust knowledge of relevant bodies, policy issues and institutions. You’ll also have a strong understanding of influencing tactics, and a solid awareness of the current UK political landscape. The post holder will also be able to effectively manage competing priorities and difficult conversations.
The External affairs manager line manages a small team and reports to the Head of corporate communications and external affairs. The postholder will work closely with key internal stakeholders including our CEO, girl voice lead, comms and PR teams, and data and insight colleagues. Interviews will be held on 25 and 26 September 2023, and will take no longer than an hour.
