Job Details

Allan Dorans MP is looking for an experienced full or part time Caseworker to join his Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock team.

Working flexibly between Westminster and occassionally from home.

Previous experience of a similar role, working at Westminster and a knowlege of how Parliament operates, a distinct advantage. 

Key tasks and responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:

Providing advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues through liaison with local and national organisations in the public, charity and private sectors and others to resolve matters. This includes work of a complex nature requiring the job holder to work independently and to liaise with senior level contacts.

Dealing with daily queries from members of the public by phone and  email, taking the appropriate initial action to document, action, escalate and resolve their concerns or enquiries, as appropriate.

Gathering information from constituents in a sensitive and confidential manner ensuring case records of cases are maintained in the 'Caseworker' software programme.

Ensuring records of contact with constituents are kept in compliance with the Data Protection Act principles and respecting the confidentiality of data at all times.

Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework.

Continually maintaining, updating and developing personal learning and knowledge of demanding, specialised or complex cases.

Effective communicator with both external contacts and team members.

The ability to research and produce short speeches and Parliamentary written and oral questions at short notice an advantage.
