Salary: £30,000pa

Length of Contract: Initially to September 2025 with the expectation of extension

Job Details

Contract: Full Time (40 hours a week)
Reporting to: B&NES Head of Campaigns

Join the dynamic Bath and North East Somerset Liberal Democrats team as our new Community Campaign Organiser, a brand-new role in of one of the country's leading local Lib Dem parties.

In addition to having the MP in Bath with the largest Lib Dem majority in parliament, in May 2023 we increased our majority on B&NES Council and became the first party to win a second term in charge of the Council. Then in summer 2023 the Lib Dems sensationally won the Somerton & Frome by-election. After boundary changes the new Frome constituency comes into the B&NES local party and is a must-win for the party.

This exciting role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on the ground, focusing on key development areas within B&NES, especially in the new Frome constituency. Your drive will help us elect another Lib Dem MP here.

In this varied role you won’t be stuck in an office all day, you will be out there on the ground working directly with communities, councillors and candidates to build grassroots campaigns and bring about change in peoples’ lives.

This role would suit someone seeking a unique experience to add to their CV and join the list of our staff who’ve gone on to achieve great things in the world. The role would equally suit a community campaigner with life experience searching for a varied role that makes a real difference to people’s lives locally and nationally.

If you need to relocate, we can, on request, put short term arrangements in place where you stay with a local party member whilst you look for accommodation.

Responsibilities
Working with the Campaign Team on the following responsibilities, within the framework of the local party's campaign strategy:

  • Identifying and running local issues-based campaigns on the ground, directly with the community.
  • Nurturing grassroots volunteer engagement and developing new networks.
  • Supporting councillors and candidates in their campaigns.
  • Management and development of existing volunteers.
  • Facilitating a full field programme of voter contact.
  • Membership support with the party’s Membership Development Officer.
  • Any other duties as required.
