Job Title: Campaign Assistant
Working For: Bath and North East Somerset Liberal Democrats
Location: Bath, with travel around Bath and North East Somerset
Salary: £22,000 with accommodation options
Length of Contract: Negotiable
Job Details
Contract: Full Time (40 hours a week)
Managed by: B&NES Head of Campaigns
Job Description
An exciting role has been created for a leading campaign manager of the future to build their skills working with one of the country’s most successful local parties to develop their campaigning skills further.
Length of contract is negotiable, being a suitable role for a short-term internship or a longer-term contract, depending on what is right for you. For shorter-term roles, we’re aware of the challenges of the rental market and we can find a local member for you to stay with for free.
You will play an important role in campaigns in a local party in control of B&NES Council and has the Bath MP with the biggest Lib Dem majority in the House of Commons. Boundary changes will also see the new Frome & East Somerset constituency join our local party this winter. Following the sensational Somerton & Frome by-election win this summer you will help this new constituency elect a Lib Dem MP.
You may have existing experience of election campaigns, or you may have transferable skills, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn.
Your role will be ‘hands on’ and require you to have a positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn the huge range of skills involved in political campaigning. Your duties will vary but will include helping our Constituency Manager plan and execute all aspects of their local campaigns, from leading and supporting canvassing teams, spear-heading fundraising activities, organising volunteers, producing and delivering campaign literature, using our sophisticated suite of digital campaign tools, and supporting VIP visits and other events across your assigned constituency.
Previous post holders have gone on to work on regional and national campaigns, to work in the UK Parliament and European Parliament, and as senior staff at PR firms, managers at consultancy firms, amongst many other examples.
