Job Title: Cabinet Support and Policy Officer

Working For: Wandsworth Council

Location: London

Salary: £33,093 - £43,785

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

Sitting at the heart of the Council, you will be part of a team providing fast-paced support to the Wandsworth Council’s Leader and Cabinet. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time of change - working with a new political administration to support the delivery of their vision for a fairer, compassionate, more sustainable borough.

Working to the Head of Leader’s Office, you will provide administrative, policy and research support, policy casework and briefings to the Leader and the Cabinet. You will work in partnership with residents, businesses, stakeholders, and communities. Internally you will collaborate with policy, comms and governance teams as well as colleagues across the Council.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about making a difference. You’ll need to be highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to balance a heavy workload with fixed deadlines and timescales.

You will be a confident communicator and be able to work to tight deadlines, with competing demands, on your own initiative. You should have experience of preparing concise and impactful briefings and policy papers for elected politicians or senior managers. You should be abreast of how the changing regional and national policy landscape might affect and provide opportunities for Wandsworth and its residents.

You will have a good understanding of the political environment, and the role of the Leader’s Office in supporting the Leader and Cabinet as non-political staff. We’re looking for people who enjoy working with others, people who are good at relationship building, and who have the confidence to operate with key stakeholders at the highest levels of the Council.
