Wendy Chamberlain MP seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic Communications Officer to join her dedicated Constituency and Parliamentary team to support Constituents in North East Fife.

This is an exciting opportunity in advance of a General Election.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required both locally and nationally for the MP on Constituency and non-party political matters.
• Proactively identify issues of importance to constituents.
• Create visual media content for the MP. Designing and developing engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels.
• Support content and manage the MP’s website.
• Manage and monitor social media enquiries in a timely manner.
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.
• Establish, monitor, and update a social media and online presence in the constituency. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts.
• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate findings to the MP and her team at weekly meetings.
• Evaluate the impact of external communications activity.
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with data protection legislation.

Key Skills/Experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with media and stakeholders.
• Can work as part of a team, but also independently manage own responsibilities.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and keep projects on track.
• Experience dealing with media both proactively and reactively is desirable.

Alignment with the values of the Liberal Democrats is important and knowledge of the Constituency is preferred.

The role is advertised as fixed term for 12 months, with a view to becoming permanent over a 37.5 hour working week.

The Role offers hybrid working and is advertised as being London based, but can also be Constituency based.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
