Job Details
We are inviting applications for a Researcher or Senior Researcher (depending on experience) to join our public services team.
Our public services team examines the performance of public services and makes proposals about how they can improve. We analyse changes to funding and demand for public services, and the impact of government policies on their performance and on the workforce that delivers them. Our research assesses how the performance of public services varies between different parts of the country, identifies examples of good practice, and considers why some innovations have worked and others have not, making recommendations for improvement.
As a Researcher, you will:
- Conduct rigorous qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, including: carrying out literature reviews; completing background research and taking part in interviews with MPs, civil servants and others; and undertaking data analysis, including creating and updating charts.
- Write about our research findings and recommendations in a range of formats, including long-form reports and shorter comment pieces.
- Work with our events team to organise and deliver public events, roundtables, podcasts and other kinds of discussion, and present our findings and recommendations in these forums.
- Work with our partnerships team to help secure funding for elements of our work, including supporting the development of funding proposals and liaising with partners about funded projects.
- Discuss project findings in the media, including TV and radio, where appropriate.
As a Senior Researcher, you will have more of a leading role in all of the above, taking responsibility for smaller projects or elements of larger, more complex projects and managing them from beginning to end (including publications and events). You will also act as a task- and/or line-manager for more junior staff as required.
