As the International Policy Specialist, you’ll provide policy support and expertise within the NEU’s international team and help to ensure that policy work in fulfilment of the NEU’s international strategy informs, supports and assists the achievement of both the strategy and the NEU’s wider priorities. You will act as the main policy specialist within the NEU for one or more aspects of the Union’s international work, as determined by the International Secretary, lead on these aspects of the NEU’s international work, and help to ensure that policy work on these areas informs, supports and assists the achievement of the NEU’s wider priorities.

We are looking to recruit a confident, experienced and highly-skilled policy professional (ideally from a trade union or similar membership organisation), with proven knowledge of policy around state/public education systems and trade unions globally, human rights and children’s rights, supporting Union capacity building and member engagement.

In this role, you will need to have good analytical skills and ability to understand complex information, which – together with highly developed literacy and numeracy skills – will enable you to confidently develop policy advice, guidance and campaign materials.
