Working For: Why me? a client of The Right Ethos

Location: London

Salary: £60,000

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

The Right Ethos has been appointed by Why me? to undertake a search for their next Chief Executive

The organisation:

Why me? are a national charity delivering and promoting Restorative Justice for everyone affected by crime and conflict. Many victims of crime feel sidelined by the criminal justice process. Restorative Justice gives them the chance to ask questions about the incident, explain the impact that it had on them, and have a say in how the harm can be repaired. This restorative dialogue transforms lives by helping people affected by crime to recover, and helping people who commit crime to stop.

The role:

To be responsible for the day-to- day leadership, management and development of the organisation including reporting to the Chair, together with being responsible for the organisation’s strategic leadership.

To represent Why me? to Government, Whitehall, parliamentarians, the media and other stakeholders by sustaining the organisation as a respected and known voice for people affected by crime and conflict in the public policy domain and ensuring the development of constructive policy positions.

Ensuring robust financial stewardship of the charity for the short, medium and long terms. Securing new income from trusts and foundations and other appropriate sources and liaising constructively with new and existing funders

The candidate:

Experience of leading teams at a senior level, ideally one focused on delivering social change with a demonstrable track record of setting organisational strategy and making key decisions.

Ability to develop innovative policy proposals and to identify and capitalise on opportunities to influence policy and practice as well as being highly credible with a proven ability to build effective relationships with, and to influence a wide range of stakeholders, from senior police officers to parliamentarians and victims of crime and offenders.

Experience of developing and implementing successful programmes of work and an understanding of the criminal justice system. Previous practical experience of restorative justice would be useful but not essential.
