About the role:
In this role you will lead on the identification, design and delivery of sustainability projects across multiple areas, including buildings, energy infrastructure, air quality and flooding. Key responsibilities are as follows:
Delivery: Be the driving force behind Lambeth's air quality improvement and climate change infrastructure projects. This includes overseeing our public buildings and schools retrofit programme ensuring statutory compliance, contributing significantly to sustainable development and positive environmental impact.
Team Leadership: Lead a dedicated team, fostering a culture of innovation and creativity. Your management skills will play a pivotal role in driving commitment and engagement, ensuring your team is at the forefront of sustainable initiatives.
Financial innovation: Take charge of financial management, unlocking opportunities for external grants and income generation. You will be responsible for providing financial oversight on key projects, identifying new and innovative funding models for our sustainability initiatives.
Expertise: Act as the technical authority on climate change and sustainability matters. Your insights will shape key decisions, and you will lead the team in analyzing and approving new policies and reports, providing a hands-on approach to driving change.
Strategy: Be at the forefront of shaping Lambeth Council's sustainability agenda. Lead strategy and policy development, influencing not just local, but also regional sustainability practices.
The role is suitable for candidates with backgrounds in science, energy, engineering, built environment, and policy and strategy.
