The Conservative Environment Network (CEN) is the independent forum for conservatives in the UK and around the world who support net zero, nature restoration, and resource security.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to work on our growing and influential nature programme, supporting our parliamentary caucus, councillor network and coalition of overseas legislators to champion conservative policy solutions for halting and reversing the decline of our natural environment.

With a general election now highly likely in the next year, this is an exciting and critical time to be influencing nature policy within the conservative movement. This role will support CEN’s work across our nature programme and will have the opportunity to work across a number of nature policy areas.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone seeking their first full-time role working in or around the UK conservative movement and with a strong interest in nature policy. The successful candidate will report to the Nature Programme Manager.

The successful applicant will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Research and write parliamentary briefings, campaigns, and letters on nature policy issues.
  • Monitor parliamentary activity on nature policy.
  • Support the organisation of nature programme events.
  • Monitor and engage with new research and campaigns in nature policy.
  • Respond to CEN Caucus queries on nature policy.
  • Support with nature-related social media outputs and other digital activities.
  • Research and write councillor briefings.
  • Write for the CEN blog.
  • Wider support for the work of CEN’s nature team.

Person specification:

  • A passion for and understanding of conservative environmentalism
  • A good awareness of and interest in UK politics and nature policy debates
  • Able to work within a small team and confidently able to complete tasks independently
  • Excellent writing skills and a strong academic record
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
