Job Details

I'm looking for a highly motivated individual for the role of caseworker in my Constituency Office. You must have excellent communication and administration skills; a can-do attitude in a fast-paced busy political environment. This role needs a self-starter with a clear appreciation of working in a small team. Key purpose of the role is to provide casework-related advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues through liaison with Government agencies, the local council, the voluntary sector, and others to resolve matters. Alongside providing general support to a busy Member of Parliament.

Key responsibilities:
• Casework - deal with large numbers of queries & assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email or face to face.
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all actions are taken.
• Draft responses to constituents.
• Assist with surgeries and constituency meetings.
• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports with other staff members.
• Ensure records are kept and information/cases are managed promptly, sensitively and confidentially, in line with GDPR and in accordance with the MP.
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
• There may be a requirement to work outside the normal working hours.

Additional responsibilities:
• Community and volunteer engagement; supporting the team with arrangements for events and on the day support; assist in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
• Preparation and distribution of communications to constituents. General administrative duties.
• Database management.

Skills required:

• Excellent team working and communication skills.
• Skilled in the Microsoft office suite.
• Ability to work on sensitive issues with confidentiality.
• Strong communicator, able to communicate messages clearly to a range of audiences at all levels.
• Experience of dealing with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Hull and issues affecting the area.
• Commitment to Labour Movement values.

Desirable knowledge and experience:
• Experience of working in government /wider public sector/ voluntary or community sector.
• Previous experience in a casework or policy-based role.
