Godalming & Ash Conservative Association is a voluntary association with hundreds of members and a permanent office in Hindhead, Surrey. Its principal function is to ensure the election of Conservative candidates to all elected forums. Its main objective in 2024 is to secure the re-election of the Right Hon. Jeremy Hunt MP to Parliament.

This role is office based although some travelling within the constituency may be required. The hours and days worked can be agreed to suit both the Association and the successful candidate. The principal role is to support the Association’s elected officers and full-time professional Campaign Manager to deliver the Association’s objectives.

The principal duties of the role include:

  • Supporting the administration of fund-raising events held by the Association and its branches, including for example liaising with hospitality venues;
  • Maintaining membership records and contact databases such as Mailchimp;
  • Development and implementation of a contacts database & regular e-communication to electors;
  • Management of the collection, and analysis of completed surveys of electors which are returned to the association;
  • Release of press releases, communication with news editors and photo calls;
  • Support management of website updating and social media;
  • Direct mail fundraising including research, letter writing and implementation;
  • Assisting and promoting our Local Councillors and other candidates and elected representatives in their work;
  • Preparation of budgets for ad hoc projects as well as supporting the Association Treasurer in keeping up to date accounts;
  • Keeping all necessary records required by the Association in relation to the Association’s work or the Conservative Party;
  • Performing all such other functions as may reasonably be required by the Association.

The successful candidate will be able to manage their own time and priorities according to demands from different sources. They will be familiar with MS Office packages including Word and Excel. Some experience of financial bookkeeping may be an advantage. They will be required to use their own vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
