Job Details

The Rt Hon Victoria Prentis KC MP is looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Communications Officer to join her Parliamentary team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, able to use initiative and work to tight deadlines. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing social media presence in the constituency
  • Developing appropriate strategies around social media and Victoria's online presence in the constituency
  • Producing online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts
  • Assisting with regular newspaper columns and newsletter content
  • Managing Victoria's website (www.victoriaprentis.com)
  • Monitoring media coverage, liaising with media and preparing press releases as required
  • Updating online platforms including the website and social media.

The successful candidate is also expected to assist with casework progression, handle work experience enquiries and oversee the organisation of large local events. 

The following skills are essential:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, various social media platforms and Mailchimp
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a strong proactive work ethic
  • An ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
  • An ability to exercise initiative and work in a sensitive and confidential manner
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party
  • Familiarity with the Banbury constituency would be preferable
  • Knowledge of Caseworker.mp software would be an advantage

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
