Job Details

Oxford & District Labour Party is looking for a Local Organiser to ensure effective campaign organisation across Oxford East and Oxford West & Abingdon constituencies. They will work from our modern and well-equipped campaign centre in Cowley.

We are a strong and energetic local party, with a strong national reputation for campaigning.

Working hours are 37.5 per week. The post will require evening and weekend work in order to lead campaigning sessions. Paid holiday entitlement is 25 days pro rata. The post is permanent with a six month probationary period. 

Key Responsibilities:
• To work with the MP, councillors, candidates, CLP officers, members and supporters to build support and win elections, specifically upcoming local elections in 2024 and 2025, any council by-elections which may occur, and the General Election as soon as it comes.
• To organise all aspects of our election campaigns including literature, campaigning, budget, expenses, nominations, polling day and the count.
• To design, print and distribute mailings and newsletters.
• To organise and lead campaign activities including canvassing, phone banks, data entry and local visits. Central canvasses are usually run on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
• To recruit, motivate and manage volunteers using Organise. This includes working with the Vice Chair (Campaigns) to identify and support local campaign leaders.
• To develop local fundraising to ensure we have adequate funding for elections. This includes organising events and dinners as well as working with the CLP Treasurer and Fundraising Officer to keep costs down.
• To work with the Campaign Agent to submit election expenses.
• To develop our digital and social media campaigns, working alongside the CLP Social Media Officer. This includes social media content (targeted and organic), website management and online petitions and surveys.
• To make targeting decisions in relation to campaigning using canvassing and other data on Labour Party tools such as Contact Creator and Insight.
• To aid the CLP Secretary with the organisation and smooth running of All Member Meetings.
• To attend and participate in training sessions relating to the role as directed.
• Any other tasks as specified by the local Campaign Committee and Executive Committee, in liaison with line management.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews and a written task will be conducted during the week commencing the 19th of February, at our office in Cowley, Oxford. The start date is immediate/dependent on the successful applicant's notice period in their current position.
