Job Title: Communications and Events Officer

Job Details

We need a proactive and politically savvy person to support our small, friendly team in the following ways:

  • Organise and manage well-run meetings, trips and events for members of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Migration and for RAMP. 
  • Manage and update the websites and social media channels for RAMP and the APPG on Migration.
  • Monitor inboxes and correspondence from parliamentarians and other key stakeholders for RAMP and for the APPG.
  • Manage and regularly update RAMP’s mailing lists, our activity tracker, our risk register, and other team documents.
  • Monitor developments on migration and asylum policy areas in the Commons and Lords and pass on key information to other members of the team.
  • Collate information for, draft, edit, format on Mailchimp, and send fortnightly policy briefings to members of the APPG, and quarterly newsletters for RAMP’s donors and stakeholders.
  • Carry out ad hoc research tasks and help to manage team projects. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong interest in politics, with a good  knowledge of the UK political system.
  • Has some understanding of migration and asylum policy - possibly with lived experience of migrating to the UK.
  • Is a proactive self-starter: confident enough to take the initiative, suggest improvements and to provide constructive feedback.
  • Is an excellent communicator who can draft well, edit and proof read what others have written, write a clear set of minutes, contribute confidently in team meetings, and listen well to colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Is a very able social media manager with experience of using X, LinkedIn and websites to disseminate information and reach key audiences.
  • Is a competent user of a range of software packages and ICT tools like Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Zoom, SquareSpace, WordPress and SurveyMonkey.
  • Is well organised, able to prioritise and to manage their workload to meet deadlines.
  • Is emotionally literate and able to build strong relationships with colleagues in a collaborative team environment.
  • Is experienced at researching key information and drafting succinct and accurate briefings- probably evidenced by a relevant degree.
  • Is committed to finding consensus and able to work collaboratively with people who have different views and backgrounds, given the cross-party nature of the project.
