Job Details

Jo Gideon MP is seeking a dedicated Age-Friendly Senior Policy Researcher for the Stoke-on-Trent Central constituency, reporting directly to the Member of Parliament. This role will develop and promote initiatives to make Stoke-on-Trent Central an age-friendly community where older people are valued and can thrive. Additionally, the role involves examining the national policy landscape, analysing relevant policies, and advising on strategic approaches to align local initiatives with broader national goals.

The successful candidate will lead and manage their own research, policy development, and community engagement to identify and implement strategies that enhance the quality of life for older residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including older people's groups, charities, local authorities, and service providers, to develop and implement an Age-Friendly Strategy. Conduct consultations and facilitate focus groups to gain direct insights from older residents.
  • Research and policy development focused on creating an inclusive environment for older individuals. Analyse data, reports, and legislation to identify challenges and opportunities. Develop evidence-based policy proposals, focusing on areas such as active employment opportunities for older residents, volunteering and reducing barriers to community participation.
  • Organise and lead community engagement initiatives to align with age-friendly objectives.
  • Prepare regular reports, press releases, and social media content to communicate progress and advocate for age-friendly policies. Proactively monitor media coverage relevant to ageing issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of age-friendly initiatives, providing regular updates to the MP and relevant bodies.

Candidates should have the following skills or qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Be sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Conservative Party
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Literate in Microsoft Office suite

It would be desirable if the applicant had:

  • Experience working with, analysing, and presenting data.
  • Understanding and experience in using a variety of social media platforms.
  • A full driving licence.
