Job Title: Programme Manager (Air Quality and Transport)

Job Details

As a Programme Manager in our independent organisation focussed on building environmental ambition across the labour movement, you will play a crucial role in developing LCEF’s programme for air quality and transport. You will be responsible for driving political action on the environment at every political level, including at Westminster, Edinburgh, Cardiff, city regions, combined authorities, and local authorities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong network within the labour movement; an understanding of policy development and political implementation; and an understanding of the key political campaigning issues surrounding air quality, town planning and transport.

Policy knowledge of air quality and environmental issues is desired but not essential. Key to this role is convening key stakeholders, having an understanding of the internal dynamics of the labour movement, and producing meaningful change.

Responsibilities
1. Political advocacy and stakeholder engagement
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all parts of the labour movement.
• Cultivate strategic relationships with relevant organisations in the union and NGO sectors, businesses, and activists.
• Represent LCEF at events to enhance networks and achieve political change.

2. Project delivery
• Support the implementation of LCEF’s air quality and transport programme.
• Plan and produce LCEF outputs, including briefings, reports and events that work towards LCEF’s strategic aims.

3. Framing development
• Develop frames and narratives that best work for driving implementation of air quality and transport policies at a local and national level.
• Represent LCEF in the media to raise visibility and achieve the programme’s objectives.
• Manage the programme’s comms outputs including social media, press releases and broadcast media.

4. Policy development
• Work with stakeholders to develop ambitious policy to be included in any future clean air legislation.
• Stay informed and up-to-date on policy developments in the political, union and environmental landscapes.

5. Strategic delivery
• Work as part of a small yet highly motivated team to deliver LCEF’s strategic aims.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes collaboration, creativity and ambition
