Job Details

Shaun Bailey MP welcomes applications from experienced and enthusiastic self-starters for the role of full time Senior Caseworker based in his constituency office (Wednesbury WS10 7AG). Some flexibility on location and part time working, may be available for an exceptional candidate.

The successful applicant will have significant casework experience, a background working in politics, public affairs and/or Parliament – or significant experience from working in customer service and/or complaints management, a strong work ethic and demonstrate a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks as a team player in a fast-paced office with a heavy workload.

As Senior Caseworker you will: 

  • Analyse, evaluate, and interpret data to make sure the Member is accurately informed on key issues;
  • Assist with surgeries, public meetings, and other visits, and follow up as appropriate;
  • Develop knowledge in specialist areas;
  • Respond professionally, sensitively, confidentially and with integrity to routine and complex correspondence and enquiries by email, telephone, social media, and face-to-face interactions. Logging all cases, monitor progress, and ensure all identified actions are taken;
  • Ensure records are kept confidentially and in line with data protection legislation;
  • Exercise a high level of autonomy in reaching decisions on cases based on evidence;
  • Liaise and engage with external organisations, Government agencies, and others;
  • Manage a large caseload of complex cases in a professional, confidential, caring, and sensitive manner;
  • Supervise other members of staff;
  • Have sign off on correspondence in the Member’s name;
  • Support the Member with constituency engagement initiatives;
  • There may be a requirement to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally;
  • Other responsibilities as reasonably required.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of customer service, complaints management, politics, public affairs, and/or Parliament;
  • Strong communication and organisational skills and able to take the initiative;
  • Fluent and clear written style;
  • Hardworking, flexible, proactive team player, with the ability to work to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent project management;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party;
  • Sound judgement.
