Job Details

Ben Everitt MP is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Parliamentary Assistant to join his office in Westminster.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, confident working independently and as part of a team, as well as having a keen understanding of politics and current affairs.

The successful candidate will support Ben in his role as PPS to DLUHC and as Chairman of the Commons & Lords RFC. The successful candidate should also be able to travel to Milton Keynes on a regular basis. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Running the MP’s offices in both Westminster and Milton Keynes.
• Supervising the Member’s team in both Westminster and the constituency, including overseeing training and development.
• Inbox and Parliamentary diary management, acting as the key point of contact for stakeholders.
• Overseeing the office’s budgets and keeping the Member informed of all relevant financial matters, including liaising with IPSA on office finance.
• Providing HR advice where necessary.
• Horizon-scanning, proactively identifying problems and resolving them.
• Undertaking research and writing briefings to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues.
• Developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of Parliamentary business including bills, legislation and debates.
• Ensuring the Member is fully briefed on debates, potential questions, and motions to be put to the House, supporting his role as PPS to DLUHC.
• Responding to policy correspondence from constituents.
• Giving advice on policy issues and local developments.

Requirements:

• Be sympathetic to the values of the Conservative Party.
• Previous Parliamentary experience; including staff management experience and knowledge of the IPSA expenses system.
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and the Caseworker.mp system.
• Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Milton Keynes is helpful but not essential.
