Job Details

The MP for West Dorset is looking for a talented and capable leader of people and process to support him running his office; to ensure readiness for parliamentary business; a positive impact is made for the benefit of constituency and nation; and the effective and efficient administration of his busy office, working with the team who are mainly based in Dorset.

This role would suit someone who is well experienced and has a strong track record with outcome and people delivery, but Chris is pleased to hear from exceptional people whatever your background or education.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prioritise the office to ensure the MP is prepared for all business and engagements;
  • Act on behalf of the MP with his delegated authority, engaging confidentially, professionally, with care and integrity on behalf of the MP with key stakeholders and members of the public;
  • Lead, coordinate and line-manage the team to achieve team deliverables and to achieve the team objectives across the office;
  • Accountable for IPSA processing and commissioner compliance, including MP’s expenses and HR matters;
  • Oversee and manage internal office processes including data and information; management, IT systems for effective delivery;
  • Ensure the MP’s profile is maximised constituency and where appropriate, further afield by coordinating delivery of campaigns, including press releases, social media and website;
  • Manage equipment inventory and ordering and associated budget;
  • There will be a need for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work.
  • Support the MP, undertaking and completing delegated tasks/workstreams as needed.

  • Advanced IT skills, with experience using MS Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, Caseworker

Preferred skills:

  • Knowledge of the West Dorset, its key issues and the MP’s priorities
  • Campaigning experience
  • Web and social media management
