Job Details

Dr James Davies MP is looking for a hard-working “Senior Caseworker” with a strong attention and understanding demeanour to detail to work remotely with his constituency team. This position will be a full time remote position on a 6 month contract, with a start date as soon as possible.

The role will include a range of casework, responding to and helping constituents, surgeries, and general administrative duties.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent written and oral commication skills.
  • An exceptional eye for detail.
  • An ability to work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team.
  • A professional and friendly demeanour when dealing with members of the public.
  • The ability to manage and effectively prioritise a large and often complex caseload.
  • Analytical listening skills with the ability to provide sound advice.
  • A positive can-do attitude and an excellent work ethic.
  • Local knowledge is desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience of Microsoft software.
  • The ability to demonstrate sensitivity and ensure that the highest standards of confidentiality are upheld.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading on complex casework.
  • Managing and monitoring incoming calls, post and email enquiries. Ensuring all matters are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Dealing with large numbers of queries and casework from members of the public by phone, email or social media. Ongoing communication may be required.
  • Liaising with national and local government agencies, as well as other relevant organisations.
  • Ensuring enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially.
  • Monitoring social and local media within the constituency and feeding back any events, comments or need for action.
  • Ensuring records are accurate and timely, and information is managed confidentially in line with GDPR.
  • General administrative duties within the office.
  • Support with local campaigns and events throughout the year as required.

This is a full-time remote working position but can be office based if preferred.

This is a non-political role. However, candidates should be sympathetic to the aims and values of Conservative Party.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
