Job Details
Responsibilities
- Supporting with keeping casework up-to-date and responding to public enquiries.
- Keeping cases up-to-date by tracking, logging and recognising when to escalate issues within team.
- Communicating with constituents on a wide range of issues, including those of a sensitive nature, and escalating accordingly.
- Communicating with other MSPs and MPs and their staff, Councillors and local authority officers, and parliamentary officials.
- Advocating on constituent's behalf with relevant bodies and organisations to assist and resolve matters.
- Briefing MSP on casework and trends.
- Reviewing constituent records and documentation in line with casework, and ensuring casework filing systems are kept up-to-date in line with GDPR requirements.
- Ensuring constituents are kept appropriately informed about progress of their enquiries.
- Maintaining knowledge about relevant policy developments.
- Attending help and advice surgeries and meeting with stakeholders alongside the MSP.
About You – Essential
- Have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise workloads.
- Detail-orientated with an excellent command of written English.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Have an interest in helping people, and have a curiosity to probe for further information where necessary.
- Be acutely aware of the responsibility of representing those unable to do so themselves in certain situations.
- Have a knowlegdge of issues concerning the Highlands and Islands Region.
- Be able to be patient, sensitive, objective and open-minded.
- Be comfortable being in a front facing role.
- Be comfortable explaining regulations such as GDPR to the general public.
- Have basic IT skills including using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
- Work in a confidential manner at all times.
About You – Desirable
- Experience of using a case management system would be desirable.
- Have research skills and policy knowledge.
- A full driving licence and access to a car.
- Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.

Interviews will be conducted in-person in Oban at a date yet to be determined.
