The Policy and Public Affairs team advocate on behalf of PRS for Music (PfM) and its members for a legislative framework that enables PRS for Music to protect and grow the value of the rights entrusted to us. The day-to-day work combines government relations, advocacy, strategic policy development, issue management, information dissemination and strategic communications advice. The aim is to influence public policy, build and maintain a strong reputation and find common ground with stakeholders.

As our Public Affairs Manager some of your day to day duties will include:

  • Developing and delivering a public affairs plan and a political contact programme to communicate the role of PfM and its policy positions to political figures and institutions, in the UK and in Brussels.
  • Keeping abreast of the political and legislative climate and advise the organisation on the opportunities these provide to further PfM objectives.
  • Recommending appropriate tactics for effective engagement with key policymakers. Advise and support senior staff in their relationships with politicians and senior officials.
  • Leading in the drafting of high-quality position papers, communications and briefings on key issues, in coordination with legal advisers and business teams, both UK-focussed and EU-focussed.
  • Leading the continued delivery of the PfM Creator Voice programme (which engages the membership in policy and public affairs activities); ensuring it complements the work of the PPA team.
  • Developing and deliver a programme of events to raise the profile of PfM both in terms of public affairs and thought leadership.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of PfMs research agenda for the PPA team.

  • Direct experience of working in policy & public affairs or politics. Similar experience in Brussels is also valuable.

  • Knowledge in IP/copyright/creative industries is highly desirable.
  • Experience of building and maintaining lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.
