Salary: £29,727 – £46,381

Job Details

Sir James Duddridge KCMG MP for Rochford and Southend East is looking to recruit a Communications Officer. The role will be full time, some weekend and evening work required. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering all of the members campaigns and communications activity, the applicant must be able to undertake the organisation of events, media and press activities and design content for social media, as well as assist with wider communications activities such as newsletters, community engagement and website management.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

• Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
• Producing weekly newsletters and assist in drafting leaflets and other forms of communications.
• Prepare press releases as required
• Produce online graphics, video content and editing, as well as publicising surgeries and news.
• Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence, follow up on social media queries and comments
• Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required
• Website management, Ensure websites and social media platforms are up to date
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal hours and travel for work occasionally

• A highly motivated staff member, and ability to work collectively as part of the wider team
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party
• Prioritise a demanding workload with an eye for detail and a can-do attitude
• Organise and present information in a simple and sensible way
• Excellent written skills
• Engage with members of the public professionally, confidentially, and with care and integrity.

Experience
• 2+ years experience in a similar role
• Experience working in a busy environment
• Experience of working with at least one of the following: media organisations, website editing, or using systems like Mail Chimp
