We are looking for an engaged and talented communicator to work in conjunction with the full Public Affairs team and the Head of Corporate Affairs to support EDF’s government and stakeholder relations, occasionally supporting with public relations activities as required.

The team are based in our London offices, and travel to Westminster and other UK locations for some meetings as required.

What you’ll be doing

The Public Affairs Officer will support the Senior Public Affairs Manager and Head of Corporate Affairs in delivering the public affairs plans for the EDF Business Units. You will provide advice and guidance on external communications issues, identifying risks and pro-actively protecting the company’s reputation.

Focusing on specific topics, you will plan and draft communication materials and briefings and take responsibility for ensuring the timely and accurate compilation and submission of accurate reports.

You will support effective stakeholder engagement and build strong relationships with managers and leaders across EDF Business Units, subject matter experts within the business and political contacts.

Who you are

We are looking for somebody with excellent communication skills, both written and oral with a particular focus on communicating complex topics to a variety of audiences.

You will have previous Political or Public Affairs experience with a strong understanding of UK politics and the UK political process, good influencing skills and ability to work well with others in a large and complex organisation.

As the Public Affairs Officer you will demonstrate a good understanding of consumer affairs and key consumer topics in energy and the ability to communicate complex, technical issues in a more simple and effective way.
