Job Title: Communications Officer

Length of Contract: Fixed-term, with the possibility of extension

Job Details

This role will involve social media activity, creating videos, graphics and other digital

content, drafting press releases and mailouts and liaising with local publications.

The applicant should be creative with strong initiative, this role would suit a creative,
strong communicator who can work accurately to deadlines. They will be able to exercise
political judgement and use their own initiative to drive the development of new projects
and campaigns.

They will work with other members of the team to ensure that a steady flow of media and
social output is progressed and must have an overall sympathy with the aims and values
of the Conservative Party. There will be some work outside of the traditional 9-5 office
hours.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Creating communications plans to accompany campaigns and events
• Produce press releases, assist in liaising with the media and meeting required
deadlines
• Drafting monthly e-newsletters updating constituents on Jacob's activities
• Design engaging printed materials in-house
• Produce online graphics and video content across all the MP’s campaigns
• Monitor media coverage and social media channels
• Manage social media channels and engage with constituents
• Dealing with queries from constituents
• Liaise with outside agencies in relation to printed material
• Manage a busy schedule of mailouts
• Assist in basic administrative duties in the constituency office, such as scanning
written casework
• Retaining records and information confidentially and in line with GDPR
• Deal with standard campaign policy enquiries
Essential qualities:
• Excellent and articulate written communication skills
• Competency with managing social media content to a high quality
• A creative approach to content creation
• Excellent attention to detail
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
• The ability to plan ahead and to react quickly to events
• Excellent communication skill with people from all types of background face to face,
over digital mediums and in writing
• Excellent organisational skills
Desired qualities:
• High levels of competency with Adobe suite, Canva and Microsoft office or equivalent
systems.
• Previous experience in communications
