Job Details
Chris Webb MP is looking for a full time Caseworker for his constituency office.
The successful applicant will be office-based in the Blackpool South constituency office. As part of a small team, they will share responsibility for the day-to-day service to constituents.
The successful applicant will share Chris’s determination to deliver fair and just results for his constituents. They will have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, well organised and reliable.
They will be able to manage a large workload in a prompt, accurate and confidential manner.
Previous casework experience is essential for this role and experience in an elected member’s office (and of caseworker.mp database system) would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Handling straightforward and complex casework enquiries and correspondence from constituents
- Managing and appropriately documenting and progressing cases, in efforts to resolve them on behalf of the constituent
- Raising urgent or serious casework issues with the Member when appropriate
- Ensuring all information is dealt with sensitively and in line with data protection legislation
- Drafting correspondence to constituents, letters to government ministers, organisations, and stakeholders on behalf of the Member
- Building strong working relationships with constituency organisations, public bodies and the third sector, to assist with casework and the Members wider strategic priorities
- Taking phone calls from constituents and actioning them appropriately
- Overseeing all casework issues and highlighting trends and issues with the Member and parliamentary staff, to inform the Member’s work in Westminster
- Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and policy areas, to assist with their understanding of current casework issues
- Attending surgeries with the Member and take notes, following up on any proposed actions
Required experience:
- Experience working in a MP’s office, or in a very similar role for at least one year.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in relevant software, Outlook, Office and ideally Caseworker.mp
- Ability to delegate to and manage junior staff
- Ability to handle difficult or emotive situations in a sensitive manner.
- Ability to handle a varied and busy case load.
- Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party. Skills and Experience

Interview/Start Dates
Interviews will take place in Blackpool on Friday 31st May and will form two parts. One part standard Q&A, and second part a discussion on the results of a written task to be completed beforehand.
You will also be security vetted prior to a start date being given.
