Job Details

Luke Myer, the Labour MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, is recruiting a Senior Caseworker to work in his constituency office. The Senior Caseworker will manage all constituency casework, as well aswork with the other members of Luke’s team, to provide an outstanding service to constituents and to support Parliamentary work.

The Senior Caseworker’s duties will include:
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media, or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required.
• Gather and research relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP’s wishes.
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
• Supervise other members of staff including coaching and mentoring.
• Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.


Personal Specification
• Proven experience in a casework or related role.
• Experience in managing and prioritising a large caseload.
• Ability to manage complex cases with care and sensitivity.
• Proficiency in the use of case management systems.
• Prior experience in supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff.
• Understanding of government agencies, local authorities and the voluntary sector.

A driving licence and commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party are desirable. There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
