Job Details
Luke Myer, the Labour MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, is recruiting a full-time Communications officer and a part-time Communications officer (4 days) to work in his constituency office. The Communications officer will work with the other members of Luke’s team, to provide an excellent service to constituents and to support Parliamentary work.
The Communications Officer’s duties will be include:
• Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency.
• Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required (on constituency, non-party-political matters).
• Produce press releases, liaise with the media, meeting deadlines as appropriate.
• Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
• Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level.
• Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
• Follow up on social media queries and comments.
Personal Specification
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality press releases and media content.
• Strong understanding of current media practices and the ability to monitor media coverage effectively.
• Competence in producing online graphics and video content using relevant software.
• Experience in using social media platforms, including creating engaging content, monitoring interactions, and responding to enquiries.
A driving licence and commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party are desirable. There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
