Job Details
Steff Aquarone is the new MP for North Norfolk, and this role is designed to help him handle a high level of casework from constituents.
“I care deeply about North Norfolk, and want to make sure I am there to help people who need it – whether that’s with seemingly straightforward local issues that need nudging, or complex cases where no one else will listen.
“This role is crucial to helping me serve the people of North Norfolk by providing me with the additional support and capacity to act on a good deal of incoming casework quickly and assertively, whilst escalating complex or urgent cases to me.”
Main responsibilities:
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media, or face-to-face, and provide information. Ongoing communication may be required.
• On behalf of the Member, respond to constituents on casework issues raised, undertaking research and drafting correspondence, which reflects the Member’s views
• Respond professionally, sensitively, confidentially and with integrity to routine correspondence and enquiries by email, telephone and face to face from constituents
• Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate – will include working occasional weekends
• Proactively engage with public bodies, agencies and businesses, assertively, in order to progress casework quickly
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework and policy enquiries
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Draft responses to constituents.
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation.
Requirements:
• Previous casework experience and knowledge in a similar role is desirable
• A genuine interest in helping constituents
• Highly motivated, with a positive can-do attitude and ability to work independently and collectively as part of a small team
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to deal with and prioritise a large and varied caseload, and to work well under pressure
