Winchester’s newly-elected MP, Dr Danny Chambers, and the Winchester Liberal Democrats are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Communications Manager to lead both teams' communications strategy and delivery. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of  communications to ensure Danny is in touch with his constituents and the Lib Dems remain a formidable campaigning force in Winchester.

Full time role, 80:20 split between Dr Danny Chambers MP and the Winchester Liberal Democrats

Responsibilities as Senior Communications Manager for Dr Danny Chambers MP
Communications strategy

  • Establish and develop appropriate strategies around social media and online presence
  • Produce online graphics and video content
  • Ensure Danny is represented in print, radio, TV and by email, as well as digitally
  • Evaluate the impact of all communications

Communications delivery

  • Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels
  • Establish a social media presence in the Constituency
  • Ensure Danny’s online presence is meeting the demands of constituents
  • Write copy publicising Danny's work for the Constituency
  • Build and maintain a stock of video and still images 
  • Follow up on social media queries and comments

Media engagement

  • Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases 
  • Maintain contact with all media channels


Responsibilities as Senior Communications Manager for Winchester Liberal Democrats

  • Oversee the monitoring and updating of Winchester Lib Dems’ online platforms
  • Write copy and produce designs and artwork 
  • Build and maintain a stock of video and still images
  • Organise the printing and production of materials to plan and budget

 

  • There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally

Skills required

  • Two years’ experience in a communications role in a politics or public sector environment
  • Strong understanding of the UK media landscape and political environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, platforms and desktop publishing packages
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
