Job Details
We are looking to appoint a Casework Manager to manage a team of Caseworkers.
The role would be based in the constituency office in Ilford. There will also be opportunities for working and training in Parliament.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Managing and prioritising large complex caseloads in a professional and prompt manner. Working to keep cases confidential whilst also handling them sensitively and professionally.
• Attending events and meetings with the MP when required and assisting with any arising actions and correspondence.
• Liaising with government agencies, voluntary sectors and others to resolve constituency matters and ensuring all identified actions are taken.
• Drafting responses to constituents and ensuring records are kept confidentially in line with data protection legislation.
• Analysing enquiry patterns and reporting findings to the MP and wider team.
• Developing knowledge in specialist areas relevant to constituency issues.
• Mentoring, training, and supporting junior caseworkers to enhance their professional development.
• Liaising with Government agencies, the voluntary sector and others to resolve issues facing constituents.
Skills and abilities:
• Management experience, ability to motivate and upskill a team.
• Self-motivated and able to take initiative when managing staff and daily tasks.
• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Sound judgement in dealing with sensitive issues.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise and manage a large workload independently.
• Ability to adapt and work effectively as part of a team who manage diverse and varying workloads collaboratively.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
Desirable experience:
• Experience in an MP's office or other busy environment providing frontline support
• Experience managing a team
• Experience of using Caseworker.MP or another case management system
• Local knowledge of Ilford South
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally. Applicants should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
