The Rt. Hon. Darren Jones MP is recruiting a new Personal Assistant to join his busy office to support his constituency and parliamentary work.

This role will be based in London and the successful candidate will be working from Darren’s Parliamentary office in Westminster.

It is a part-time role, up to 20 hours per week. Darren, and the office, work flexibly but the successful candidate should expect to work most of their hours between Mondays and Thursdays to maintain the smooth running of the Parliamentary office.

The Personal Assistant will support Darren, and the team, by managing diary invitations and responding to meeting requests from a variety of stakeholders. They will assist Darren maintain relationships with parliamentary colleagues by organising meetings for him in the Westminster office.

The Personal Assistant will liaise with Darren’s Private Office, in Whitehall, to ensure they receive relevant invites and requests in a timely manner.

The Personal Assistant will be expected to open the post arriving in the office and answer the office telephone. When required, they will draft replies to routine correspondence from external stakeholders and parliamentary colleagues. They will liaise with the Office Manager to keep the Westminster office well supplied.

The Personal Assistant will also provide basic administrative support to the constituency team when required.

The Personal Assistant will help set up casefiles on our management system (Caseworker) and will use the Parliamentary Research Service (PRS), the House of Commons Library Service and Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) policy briefings to draft straightforward responses to enquiries from constituents.

Applicants will need to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management and writing skills, as well as being able to manage their workload effectively to ensure tasks are completed within standard service timeframes.

The Personal Assistant will be given a parliamentary laptop, headset, keyboard and mouse and can work from the constituency office and remotely from home. Full training will be provided, with appropriate support and supervision in place.

Occasional evening work might be required.
