Length of Contract: Permanent subject to a 6-month probation period

Job Details

Andrew Ranger MP is looking to recruit a Constituency Support Manager to join his team on a full-time basis (part-time or flexible will be considered), to support him with his work on behalf of the constituents of Wrexham.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues and is aware of trends
  • Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
  • Establish and develop appropriate strategies around social media and online presence in the constituency. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts
  • Evaluate the impact of external communications activity
  • Liaise and engage with external providers and suppliers as and when required
  • Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters
  • Manage projects
  • Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required (on constituency, non-party political matters)
  • Prepare media briefings
  • Research local, regional or national issues to support MPs' work
  • Respond professionally, sensitively, confidentially and with integrity to routine correspondence and enquiries by email, telephone, social media and face to face from constituents, the media,lobbyists and pressure groups.
  • There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally

Person Specification

Essential

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong capability to empathise and handle sensitive issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of local and national government structures and processes.
  • Ability to handle a varied and busy caseload.
  • A passion for helping people and improving our area.
  • Ability to form relationships across the constituency and connect with people from various backgrounds.
  • Experience of researching and presenting information in an easily digestible format.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to the values of the Labour Party.

Desirable

  • In-depth knowledge of the Wrexham constituency and the issues it faces.
  • Previous experience working in Parliament or with MPs.
  • A full UK driving license and access to a car.
  • Ability to work out of hours on occasion.
