Job Details

Henry Tufnell MP for Mid and South Pembrokeshire, is looking for a Constituency Assistant to join his new constituency team, serving people across Mid and South Pembrokeshire. We will consider full-time and part-time applicants.

- Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face.
- Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
- Assist with casework when required, logging cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken, and draft responses to constituents.
- Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and in line with data protection regulation.
- Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
- Update social media and website. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
- Follow up on social media queries and comments.
- Establish, monitor, and update a social media and online presence in the constituency.
- Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries etc.


There may be a requirement to work outside of normal working hours and attend events with the MP.

Person Specification:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in and understanding of current political issues.
• Knowledge and experience of social media communications.
• An understanding of digital design and video editing skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise a demanding workload to meet strict deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to handle challenging situations.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Shows a commitment to the values of the Labour Party.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place from the 6th of September and will involve a written task. This will be explained to applicants who progress through to the interview stage.
